Today the JLPT came and went, and it was worse in some areas, and easier in others, than I was expecting. Didn't pass I imagine, but as I didn't expect to, I don't feel too let down. I've seen that the Chinese intarwebs already has copies of the questions online. And let me complain that the katakana question this year was a cruel trick on us.
Anyways, how did you do? I have seen certain friends' blogs go silent or erratic in the last month or so, and I imagine the test has something to do with it. My 対策 for the next few months is to read a lot to build up my reading speed and maybe check out Iknow.com to get better at hearing the words I mostly already know in a written context; I am still waiting for the internet man to finally come and hook me up before I can use such a site.
So how long is your J-School program? You going to keep it going for the next round of testing?

I'm taking the extra test being conducted in July 2009. Been focused on Korean lately, but keeping up on my iKnow and some supplemental readings.

ReplyDeleteI took the 3kyu this time around since the 2kyu i can do in July. It was surprisingly easy compared to the practice tests i did and also to the the questions on this website:

So hopefully I'll have passed and now i can concentrate on working towards the 2kyu. Contributing factors toward the ease of the 3kyu included, anki, all japanese all the time, my weekly tutor who is awesome ( also gives me motivation to study every week) and the above wesite :)
Also Monster was great to watch, because so much of the grammar i was learning kept popping up :D I had it on in the background 24/7 for a while and every now and then i'd stop and actively listen and be like 'oooooo thats what i learned last week' of course im hoping that the same will happen as i study for the 2kyu.
p.s the manga and anime for Monster are word for word, scene for scene the same :D i love it so much it....it hurts sometimes. Can't wait till i can understand it all with without the use of a dictionary :)

Also, sorry, this doesn't have anything to do with your post today; but I was wondering if you can suggest any (english language) Japanese history books.
The katakana question involved a use of the word fight that was one I've never heard, as well as looking like a trick answer.

Where did you find questions which appeared on it online? there are a few that I wouldn't mind checking myself...!
