Peccadilloes in Nippon and Nipponese with a Quixotic Perspective. Coming at you from Yokohama, near Tokyo.
You should just abandon internet in your apartment. They have these things in Korea, probably in Japan too, called "goshiwon" (but I don't know what they'd be called in English or Japanese), and usually law students rent them out. They're like your one-room-manion there, and students just sit in it all day and cram for the bar exam for a year. Nuts. You should do that for the JLPT 1.So you got placed in the remedial JLPT 1 class then, hey? I ended up abandoning the free Japanese course I was attending, because the teacher they assigned me kept underestimating me. He'd start going on about something like, "Hiragana is derived from Kanji characters..." and I'd jump in and be all like, "Dude, I know. I'm talking about national economic policy and the prime minister reshuffling the cabinet," (国内経済政策と大理想人が内閣改造をしたこととか) and then he'd be all, "Yeah. The Prime Minister is Fukuda."Did you ever see that Simpsons episode where Homer becomes a teacher?Lisa: Will you be lecturing from a standardized text or using the more Socratic method of interactive class participation?Homer: Yes, Lisa. Daddy's going to be a teacher.I felt like Lisa Simpson.
I like your new Shanky Pad, at least it is very clean and I love the wood floors. Hope you are feeling better. We are headed to Idaho and then Utah, your great grandmother is having her 88th b-day, then we are going to go fishing...best of luck on your studying, you show them!!!!Love you,Mom
Oh poor you, you sound exhausted. Your new place looks nice though. Windows, balcony, hard wood floor = nice anywhere.お大事に！
This has little to do with this post, but what do you use to type Japanese? Do you use a plug in for a Japanese Keyboard? Or do you just use the Microsoft plug in that does it through romaji and then searching for the kanji?I am writing up a bunch of note cards on Anki, and I have wondered if there is a better way for thinking of the words strictly in japanese, and not in this stupid mixture of romaji/kanji/ and kana.
I have a Japan-made Mac, Broan
Would you mind posting a picture of the keyboard sometime!?I have looked up images to try and find what the standard is, but I wouldn't know it if I saw it.
Broan - The majority of Japanese type in "romaji"-style. 'w' + 'a' = わ and space bar to make 和.Very few people actually type in kana. My brother-in-law does, and his university professor colleagues make fun of him because of it.
Any chance you'd share the links where you put those condensed textbooks?
